First-half goals from Daniel Udoh and Kallum Cesay helped Salford condemn Gillingham to a fifth league game without a win following a 2-1 victory at Priestfield Stadium.
The visitors took the lead inside seven minutes when Adebola Oluwo’s pass picked out Udoh and he slotted an effort beyond substitute goalkeeper Jake Turner.
The hosts had a great chance to level after 23 minutes via the penalty spot when Ethan Coleman was tripped but Bradley Dack saw his effort saved by Matt Young.
Ben Woodburn’s through pass then split the Gills defence and Cesay rounded Turner before his shot crept inside the post via a failed clearance after 27 minutes.
The hosts got themselves back into the game when Sam Vokes’ clever back-flick found Josh Andrews.
His first touch was to keep the ball aloft and his second was a drilled low effort which found the bottom corner nine minutes before half-time.
Andrews had a header cleared off the line in the second half, with Young reacting well to deny Dack.
Seb Palmer-Houlden also went close, placing a shot just wide, as Salford held on.
