Paris on Arc day in sight for A Bit Of Spirit

Clive Cox is “drawn towards” a trip to ParisLongchamp with A Bit Of Spirit after his heroics at Sandown in last month’s Solario Stakes.

The Paul and Clare Rooney-owned son of Palace Pier showed tremendous heart to come out on top in a thrilling finish to the Group Three event, and having proven adept in the soft ground encountered in Esher his team can now approach the rest of the season with no concerns regarding conditions.

With that in mind, the Beechdown Stables handler is eyeing a step into Group One company and a tilt at the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on October 5, as the ever-improving colt aims to end his juvenile campaign on a high.

“We’re over the moon with the success at Sandown and with that under his belt we’re drawn towards the Lagardere,” said Cox.

“With the ability to perform on any surface proven now, it enables us to have a relaxed focus on another nice target without worrying about ground.

“He’s matured well through the summer, both mentally and physically, and has just continued improving. He has a wonderful racing attitude and I don’t think I’ve ever had one before with such a determined character as he has.”
