RECENTLY crowned Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins got the VIP treatment on arrival at the Ploughing this morning.
The Laois Rose, who beat all comers at the famous Kerry festival, is no stranger to the Ploughing which has graced her native county so many times.
“I've been coming every year since I was a child but today was extra special as well, getting into the press car park and into the buggy and straight down to the HQ was really, really nice,” said Katelyn.
“It was very, very different to parking up and queuing to get into the fields. This is definitely VIP treatment for me, I'm not used to it at all.”
The cameras were quickly out as met National Ploughing assistant managing director Anna Marie McHugh and the Rose was looking forward to her day.
Having swapped the Tralee high heels for wellies she remarked: “I'm really happy to be here. It's great and it's really nice to get the invitation.”

She took a moment to look back on how the first few weeks of her reign has gone. “It's absolutely amazing. The experiences so far and the people I've met have been incredible and I'm just really excited for the year ahead. I've done so much lately over the last few weeks and there's a lot more coming up in the next couple of weeks as well which I'm really excited about.”
Much of her schedule has to be kept under wraps but she did reveal one upcoming high profile TV appointment.
“I'll be on the Two Johnnies Late Night Lock In at the end of the month and then I'm heading on a few international trips in the next few weeks.”
