Ryan Tubridy hasn’t been idle on his trip back to Ireland, but he’s proved that a simple act of kindness can go a long way.
Since popping the question to psychologist and former Rose of Tralee Dr Clare Kambamettu in June, the ex Late Late Show host has been enjoying life in their “engagement bubble.”
While countless well wishers have reached out to the couple, one heartfelt message in particular struck a special chord with Ryan.
The broadcaster told followers on Instagram that he had received a homemade card from Francis and Kathleen, a couple living in a Galway nursing home. “They used to watch me on the TV and the radio when I was on and decided to send a card to congratulate myself and Clare on our engagement,” he explained.
“The card was so thoughtful and beautifully put together with the warmest words of love and support that ended with an invitation to visit them at the nursing home they are both residents of, so we decided to call in unannounced.”

Tubridy teased the visit in advance, telling his Instagram followers: “They don’t know it yet but we’re going to go in and see them and say hello. It’s kind of exciting because they’re good folks.”
Reflecting afterwards, he said: “If I could’ve bottled the reaction, the vibe and the joy, I would have. Two nicer people you couldn’t meet and the staff, all amazing. We had tea, biscuits and the chats. New friends were made and off we went.”
The surprise meet up is the latest glimpse into Tubridy’s life since announcing his engagement earlier this summer, showing that even amid his hectic schedule and travel between Ireland and London, he still makes time for small gestures that mean a lot.
