OPINION: Charlie Kirk believed gun deaths are 'worth it' - I wasn't upset at his death

No one deserves to die the way Charlie Kirk did, but he didn't believe so. In fact he said 'gun deaths are worth it' to preserve the Second Amendment rights and he said a lot worse too

OPINION: Charlie Kirk believed gun deaths are 'worth it'- plus other backward beliefs

Charlie Kirk- X

Nobody deserves to get shot dead, and while I wasn't upset about Charlie Kirk's death, I don't believe it should have happened.

But according to Charlie Kirk himself, he believed the number of gun deaths that occur every year in America is worth it to protect the Second Amendment.

Before I get into that, I do want to say that my heart goes out to Charlie's children who I can imagine are devastated, confused and heartbroken that someone would do this to their father. But that's as far as my sympathy goes in the situation and let me explain why.

I knew the name Charlie Kirk primarily because of his controversial debates on TikTok, particular where he argues with people about the right to abortion.

One incident in particular shocked me to my core.

A woman proposes to Charlie a scenario where his ten-year-old daughter was raped and became pregnant, and she asks him "would you want her to go through that and carry the baby?"

He said "that's awfully graphic," to which the woman replied, "it's an everyday scenario that happens to many people."

Charlie comes in abruptly then and says: "the answer is yes the baby would be delivered."

So Charlie, instead of believing woman should have the option to abortion, believes a child who was raped should go through nine months of pregnancy, go through labour and have a child if and when that horrible situation may occur.

I don't think men in general should have any say on a woman's right to abortion so the very fact that he could get up on stand and debate the topic in the first place was insane to me.

That video went viral on TikTok, and for those who look up to Charlie and his beliefs, him saying these horrific viewpoints is very scary to me.

You could argue free speech or everyone has the right to an opinion, but let's be real and not pretend like his opinions aren't directly going against women suffering from those abortion laws every day in America.

There also videos on social media where Charlie Kirk has said that abortion is worse than the Holocaust; let me just leave that one there.

Back to the topic of gun deaths in America now, I have inserted video proof below of Charlie when he said gun deaths are "worth it" to keep the Second Amendment.

"I think it's worth it," Charlie Kirk said. "It's worth to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights."

"That is a prudent deal...it is rational.....you are not going to get gun deaths to zero," he added.

Charlie Kirk has also said many other controversial things on social media. You can find countless videos of him expressing his beliefs to crowds of people, some where he says he is pro-Israel, where he believes America should bring back public executions and more.

I didn't particular care when I heard he was shot, and that's because of the hundreds and thousands of people who were and are being brutally killed in Gaza at the same time, not to mention the people who die from gun violence in America every day. School shootings, police brutality and random shootings are an every day occurrence in America. So why bring light to Charlie Kirk, an average US citizen who enjoyed public debating?

On a website called gunmemorial.org, it says that nine people were killed from gun violence on September 13, 2025 in the United States alone. That's just one random day in America.

Where is the mass media representation for them? Where is the outrage for them?

The media attention actually made me somewhat angry. Donald Trump, The President of the United States, was very vocal about the incident and expressed his outrage on social media.

He posted a four-minute video statement of himself on social media about the incident where he said: "Charlie inspired  millions and tonight all who knew and loved him are united in shock and horror. He fought for Liberty, Democracy, Justice and the American people....there has never been anyone who has been so respected by youth.

"He is now at peace with God in heaven. This is a dark moment for America. Charlie Kirk travelled the nation joyfully engaging with everyone interested; his mission was to bring young people into the political process which he did better than anybody ever."

It's no secret that Donald Trump also has conservative political beliefs, so this statement brought no shock to me, but it did touch a nerve.

How someone who debated such hateful, backward beliefs could get praised and honoured publicly by The President of the United States of America; it just goes to show what kind of political situation America is in right now.

I don't pity Charlie Kirk. I pity the oppressed people; the women, non-white people, LGBT people and everyone else deemed not to fit into the American society that people like Charlie Kirk fight so much to protect.

What kind of world are they leading people into? Where gun violence is 'worth it'...where a ten year old girl who was raped should be made carry the child to term...where the President praises these beliefs and honours them publicly?

I really really don't want to know.
